New York in Black and White.

I was in New York City for first time, ( that wasn’t JFK) for around 2 days for an expo that took up most of that time. The biggest surprise for me was how long it didn’t take to walk across walk across Manhattan (West to East, then back). To be able to dramatically say “I walked across Manhattan and back.” is definitely a fun bonus from the trip.
The second surprise was how hot and humid it was on the day I took my walk. It was not Atlanta bad (where I had been about a week and a half prior blog post about that trip soon), nor was it as bad as all the summers of growing up in Nebraska, or presumably excessive for the end of June however in my time living in the Pacific Northwest I have acclimatized very well. While annoying, it did not deter me from making photos and it should not deter you either. Being a city, there was plenty of opportunity to find a place to get inside to cool down and towel off a bit.
The walk was successful and worth all the sweat. Finally being in a place where people spend whole careers just making photos from those streets, I can see why that is possible, knowing that relatively I haven’t been to New York at all.

till next time…
